Kenapa Saya Gak Ikut Wisuda Fakultas (Fasilkom UI)
favorit lalu makan enak :D.
Kenyataan pahit yaitu make decision antara take
it or leave it.

COMPFEST... It's (y)our event!
pre-note: As it will be another season for COMPFEST (read: Computer Festival) event held by Fakultas Ilmu Komputer (Fasilkom) Universitas Indonesia (UI) for 2011. I'd to take a note about the vision and mission of COMPFEST so it can be passed down to future stakeholders. I will also share a little history about this.
What is COMPFEST and Why COMPFEST??Simply, it is another COMPUTER FESTIVAL held by student board of FASILKOM UI. Actually, COMPFEST's names was inspired by the FKI event held by another organization yearly. BUT, the names itself comes from somewhere in my mind and then, I googled to confirm that the names hasn't yet been the name of an event in any place of Indonesia (so we can use as a local trademark). The COMPFEST name itself was being used by several organizations overseas. Now, if you google the name, we have been successfully to replace those overseas event which used COMPFEST as their names. The philosophy behind COMPFEST name:
- It has 8 characters. The number 8 itself is considered:
- Under Chinese belief and Asian custom, the number is considered as lucky charm (prosperous number). Hopefully, this event will bring prosper knowledge to whom which attending the event itself.
- Under mathematical notation, it is considered as infinity. Hopefully, this event will unleash people's potential of creativity which considered to be infinite. It is similar to our campus which has circle shape and circle is a shape with infinite edges.
- Under term of "geeky word". It has "double loop" which means it has two significant process: preparation and deployment which through carefully consideration. This defines how fasilkom's student to work to handle the problems which are occurred sometimes.
- COMPUTER:
- COMPFEST should bring INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY education to people of Indonesia. It is part as our effort to implement one of "TRI DARMA PERGURUAN TINGGI" about community devotion.
- Information technology has proven to bring the promising future for national's sustainable development and we, as computer science and information system student, are expected to take part of national development by realizing it.
- The vast development of Indonesia's IT infrastructure will create a more aware of technology community. The education of IT will help Indonesian people to maximize the potential opportunity of this situation and to prepare entering the technology-aware community.
- FESTIVAL:
- It is simply another FESTIVAL. It brings "one stop IT event" concept to the people where they can participate in seminar, competition, learning IT's vast development by participating in a workshop or visiting the exhibition from the community, buying gadget, enjoy music entertainment, take their belly full of delicious food, or even finding a job in IT sector.
